A bit longer update this time. Jukka is at hospital, doing as fine as can be expected. He is really annoyed with the fact he has to lug the drip around with him everywhere, and that the other guy in the room has remote control to the TV ;-)
I got (finally!) to meet wit his oncologist who is a very efficient and competent young woman, but at 35, you can't feel but teeny weeny bit worried when the doctor is younger than yourself... Anyway, she told us that the Lymphoma (type B, if anyone is interested) has spread to the lungs, but only to the lungs, and that it is thus treatable with chemo. The cancer is also rather aggressive, but even that, I gather, is a good thing as it responds better to reatment than slower, sneakier variants. Now we just have to wait and see how the cancer responds to treatment.
He'll get home on Sunday or Monday, depending how he is responding to the drugs - they apparently want to make sure he is not allergic to any of them or have other adverse reactions, as this is the first time he is at the hospital. After that he will go in every two or three weeks for three days depending how well his white-cell count has recovered.
In other news, we have now a nice new very good matress (thanks mom and dad...) and I have been trying to find places to all the book piles on the floor so that everyting would look nice and orderly when Jukka comes home (almost made it...).
Again, thanks for remembering us, at times like this you really understand what a remarkable institution Fandom is.
