Kohti Ääretöntä - ja sen ylitse! To Snorfcon

I'll leaving to Uppsala in few minutes. We're having a Snorfcon, a sort of Nordic SMOFcon for con-organisers and active fen, who (supposedly) run things. Five Finns (myself, Ben, Tero, Saija and the New Active Boy, Eemeli) with some twenty Svenssons, Norssons and Danssons. Should be lot of intensive discussions and pub crawling heated debate.

I have developed myself a new addiction, sudoku. *sigh* First it was Tetris, then Minesweeper, FreeCell and Unfolding. And now this here simple, yet ingeniously compelling waste of time.

For the LOVE OF FU*K!!! "The flight is full and you're here too late."

After agonisingly amateurish two hours of wait at the SAS/Blue1/etc desk, where the numbers I and a large bunch of other people had drawn from the frigging machine, just to find out that the system in use hadn't been turned on for that particular option!!!, we were finally given a queue to stand in and wait in order to hear about options. I was subsequently told that my fu*king ticket was no-good for any kind of transfer (or what the hell is "vaihto" supposed to mean). Mightily miffed and gutted wimp of a man formerly known as jukkahoo took a cab and is now at home.

I'll have another go tomorrow at 9AM. I'll get to Stockholm eventually. For fu*k's sake. Call me Ishmael.

Toivottavasti matka ja coni meni mukavasti huolimatta noista alkuvaikeuksista. Tosin tietysti coninjärjestäjien coni tuntuu hassulta ajatukselta... Eikö sitä nyt olisi voinut kutsua pelkäksi tapaamiseksi... eihän tuo nyt oikeastaan mikään coni ole ;)

"Convention" = 'kokous', 'tapaaminen'. Eli jos lähdetään liikkeelle siitä, että yritettäisiin löytää definitiivinen conin määritelmä, oltaisiin suossa hyvin äkkiä. Varsinkin, kun jos yritetään olla hyvin täsmällisiä ja tarkkoja siitä, mikä on "con", tiedän useitakin ihmisiä, joiden mielestä mm. Finncon ei mahtuisi heidän tiukkaan määritelmäänsä. Lienee siis parasta myöntää, että myös Snorfcon on con, vaikka eroaisikin monista muista coneista. :)

Helpoin tapa selittää yhteistyökokous muille pohjoismaisille faneille on perinteisesti ollut "Finnish smofcon" - vaikkakaan noissa ei ohjelmanumeroita olekaan ollut, on silti päästy nopeimmin oikeansuuntaiseen käsitteeseen.

...mutta takaisin asiaan: kyllä, hauskaa oli. Ehkä jossain määrin myös hyödyllistä. Ja Jukkakin saatiin ehjänä ja ajoissa takaisin Suomeen, vaikka vaadittiinkin kaksi turkulaista huoltajiksi.
