So I'm pissed. These things happen you know. Especially after one loses important matches.
F-word.
Pardons to all you fine people I (or some other person that got hold of my phone) had this sudden urge to phone or SMS to. We was drunk and frakking full of it. There are just things you really cannot stand. I'm afraid this thing really has drawn Finnish-Swedish relationships back some twenty years. Sorry about that, but you really should've given the memo to your team, Svenssons. This was that bad.
I'm a sore loser. Yeah, that's me.
And Me. And it is a first time too. Never, ever have I been on such a lousy mood after a game. Four letter words. Lots of them.

Several f-words and a couple Finnish swear words. But I think I made a good decision when I left immediately after the game and went to the movies. It immensely helped my mood.

"You know, before I answer any more questions there's something I wanted to say. Having received all your letters over the years, and I've spoken to many of you, and some of you have traveled... y'know... hundreds of miles to be here, I'd just like to say... GET A LIFE, will you people? I mean, for crying out loud, it's just a TV show! I mean, look at you, look at the way you're dressed! You've turned an enjoyable little job, that I did as a lark for a few years, into a COLOSSAL WASTE OF TIME!"
Tuli vaan mieleen jostain. En yhtään tiedä, mistä.

Why are you pissed at the Svenssons? It was Canada we lost the gold to.

I don't understand what you are referring to (was there foul play? Cheating? Incompetent referees?) but I suppose it's just as well. I'm no great nationalist and I don't care for ice hockey.

well, eh, me and family, we think it was actually quite nice of you to call. A decent thing to do, you know. Thanks. And everything's quite ok except a small but visible scratch in poor Markku's nose... :-D

Not that I understand anything about sports, but it seems to me that if you want gold you shouldn't go and lose.

Ah, but what you gotta remember is that Jukka does not handle defeat. At all. He has been known to throw temper tantrums, cards, empty beer cans and generally act in a way not consistent with his otherwise sunny and mellow character ;-) I don't play borad games with him anymore. Not after we were playing Middle Eastern Peace and I was Iraq and he was Israel and he lost...
So it is one of those take or leave it kind of things. We are very invested in the success of our hockey teams, both the local and national. And we will rant and rave and be totally and utterly without any sense of humour or - from the point of view of the non-sports fan - proportion about it. These posts will appear from time to time, just shrug them off if you are baffled or uninterested.

Sorry, I did not understand: what did you play that you lost? :)

Yes, well. It does tend to end in war, not in peace anyway...

Usually I can pollyanna a defeat after about ten minutes of solitary walking, and I take nothing nearly as seriously as I take Hockey.
Jukka on the other hand, well Helsinki fandom has learned the hard way that Dr. Halme really changes into Jukka Hyde if he is not left in peace to deal with his pain ;-)
And there is an argument about slash? Who'da thunk...

Well, if you are a self-described sore loser, then I see why HIFK is the obvious choice.
