Amalias Hallonlimonad. That is raspberry lemonade. The raspberry is very in your face, and there is very little sugar in this one. Also, there is an aftertaste I can’t really recognise. Maybe it is the fact that the raspberry juice to carbonated water is pretty high. Jukka thinks that the raspberry is wild and the weird taste is ratamo (broadleaf plantain) which is one of the smells of Summer for him. Mixed feelings. 

Today we are talking about dog shows. This weekend Messukeskus in Helsinki is playing host to two of the biggest dog shows in the country: Helsinki Winner and Voittaja shows. First time I was there was in 2008, and I don’t think I have missed a year since. First time I personally showed a dog was in a World Winner show in 2010. Hard to get bigger than that. Which made it strange that I was really nervous this time.

Compared with all other doggy hobbies I have, dog shows are not that complicated. Though Brits and Americans have a bit different system from the rest of the world, it basically goes like this: You take the dog, walk around a ring with others in the same class, then the judge takes a closer look each one at a time, gives her evaluation, and if that is good enough you might have to go back to run around in the ring for couple of more times. There is a ring official who tells you when to be where.

But to show your dog well, that is a different thing. Teach the dog to stand and carry himself well, teach him to trot nicely next to you, teach him to allow for the judge to handle him, remember to show him so that the judge sees him all the time, try to look presentable yourself, make it all fun and rewarding for the dog. I am not there yet but I am so much better at it than I was.

Toivon aavistuksen säkää lisää, muuten kaunis selkälinja. Liikkuu yhdensuuntaisesti, vielä hieman voimaton askellus. Selkeä uroksen pää, jossa oikeat mittasuhteet ja linjat. Hyväasentoiset korvat, kauniit tummat silmät. Hyvä turkki.

Foxthyme Back to Back (Arda) Excellent, 2^nd in the champion class: 7 v. Oikea tyyppi. Riittävä luuston vahvuus. Sopivasti kulmautunut. Uloskiertyneet välikämmenet. Sopiva rungon tilavuus ja rintakehän syvyys. Seistessä hyvä säkä ja selkälinja. Oikea pään pituus, kuono-osa voisi olla täyteläisempi. Pyöreähköt silmät. Liikkuu tasapainoisesti keskipitkällä askeleella. Hyvä turkki ja väritys.

Myheels Frenchman (Mogens) Excellent, worth CC, 1^st in the Veteran Class, 4^th best male, Best veteran of the opposite sex, Helsinki Veteran Winner 2021: 10 vuotta. Oikeantyyppinen. Sopiva luuston vahvuus. Voimakkaasti uloskiertyneet välikämmenet. Sopiva rungon tilavuus. Hyvä eturinta. Hyvä säkä ja selkälinja. Oikeat pään mittasuhteet ja linjat. Hyväasentoiset korvat. Kauniit silmät. Yhdensuuntaiset liikkeet, hieman takakorkea liikkeessä. Taka-askellus hieman epätasapainossa. Hyvä turkki. Hyvä luonne.
